What I Thought:
I just discovered this great new auction site-Tophatter.
Tophatter is so much fun to use and is so different than any other auction site I have ever used. First off-you create your own little avatar when you sign up and get to attend what I call an animated real live auction. You get to see the auctioneer at the podium, the person selling the item (next to the podium) calling out encouragement, and of course all the avatars of the people attending the auction (including yours). Oh, I almost forgot that there is a chat box that you can ask questions and get real time answers (or just chat).
They usually run about 3-4 different auctions (Daily Bazaar, Supplies, Jewelry & Accessories, and occasionally others). You can not only see what is currently up for bid, but you can also look at the Upcoming items and even set a reminder so you don’t miss that special item. Here is just a few items that I found up for auction:
As you can see there is a large variety of items available.
Plus, the prices are extremely reasonable, most of the auctions that I watched, the starting bids were between $1 and $10 (depending on the item). I could not believe how great of a deal some of the highest bidders were getting, one of a kind pieces of jewelry going for under $10.
